One-and-a-half syndrome--two cases.
One-and-a-half syndrome is characterized by combination of the clinical features of unilateral horizontal gaze palsy and internuclear ophthalmoplegia. The common symptoms are double vision and oscillopsia. The lesion is located in the paramedian pontine reticular formation, involving the centre of horizontal gaze and medial longitudinal fasciculus. More extensive brainstem damage may result in ...
متن کاملOne-and-a-half syndrome secondary to transorbital penetrating injury.
A 46-year-old woman sustained a penetrating left eye (OS) injury after tripping and falling onto a motorcycle antenna. She removed the antenna immediately and presented to the emergency room complaining of diplopia. Examination demonstrated proptosis and subconjunctival hemorrhage OS. Her diplopia was initially attributed to mechanical restriction OS secondary to retrobulbar hemorrhage visualiz...
متن کاملEye deviation in patients with one-and-a-half syndrome.
To understand malalignments of the visual axes in one-and-a-half syndrome, we measured eye positions in 4 patients with this syndrome under two conditions: with Frenzel goggles to prevent eye fixation and without Frenzel goggles. When fixation was prevented with the Frenzel goggles, all patients showed mild outward deviation in both eyes. Removal of the Frenzel goggles elicited adduction of the...
متن کاملCase report of a patient with ‘one-and-a-half plus syndrome: nine syndrome’
This case talks about 'One-and-a-half plus syndrome', a clinical syndrome affecting binocular vision and facial nerve. One-and-a-half plus syndrome is a less known clinical syndrome which constitutes of a conjugate horizontal gaze palsy in one direction and an internuclear ophthalmoplegia in the other direction. Despite the known association between ischemia, autoimmune disorders, multiple scle...
متن کاملGlobal Classical Solutions of the “one and One-half” Dimensional
We study the “one and one-half” dimensional Vlasov–Maxwell–Fokker–Planck system and obtain the first results concerning well-posedness of solutions. Specifically, we prove the global-intime existence and uniqueness in the large of classical solutions to the Cauchy problem and a gain in regularity of the distribution function in its momentum argument.
